Recovery Coaching & Support Coordination
Resilience Sailing was founded to assist people who had suffered trauma, may have or had PTSD, anxiety and other disorders to grow, build capacity, improve self–confidence, communications and working with others.
Our success rate was 80% of participants back to work, into work or a new career.
We did this utilising sailing as a tool and backed by university research both here and
internationally.
Resilience Sailing is now incorporating Recovery Coaching and NDIS Support Coordination as services being offered in both Townsville and Cairns and surrounds.
Having completed specific training in recovery coaching from overseas our coaches are fully able to assist in a range of recovery areas.
I, personally, have lived experience of both PTSD and depression as a result of my military and fire fighting service, having been diagnosed in 2012, and anxiety from childhood issues. Since 2012 I have learned to manage my issues and have progressed on to assist others in dealing with their own issues.
We use recovery coaching processes, in a culturally sensitive manner, to assist people to set achievable goals, set steps to achieve those goals and learn to set SMART goals by themselves under an initially supervised process. When the individual is ready to step out independently, we assist and keep a watch as they move forward so they know they always have supports.
We fully document all our interactions with participants and make those reports available to appropriate people. We also believe it takes a community to help heal, so we encourage all our participants to get involved.
We welcome people from any background to come and sit down with us and have an initial chat.
